If you don’t know what the Humble Bundle store is already, and most of your PC games are downloaded, I strongly recommend checking it out:
Since Humble’s first bundle in 2010, raising money for charity has been at our core.
Everything we sell, from bundles to Store games to our Humble Monthly subscription, gives a share to charity.
We feature a different charity sitewide every month. By focusing our community’s efforts on one cause at a time, we can work together to make an even bigger impact for each one.
The merging of amazing deals for downloadable games and the money going to verified charitable causes is a match made in heaven and since it’s inception, it has a lot of money for many worthwhile charities and has also helped save the average gamer more than a bit of pocket change. From individual games to some rather incredible bundles it’s a site that makes a difference and is well worth bookmarking!
As well as making a difference and offering great deals, Humble Bundle regularly release a free game redeemable through Steam, free, no charge, none!
Until Sunday, the game that the Humble Bundle store are offering for free is Homefront.
2011’s shooter came out to mixed reviews and was released with one of the most memorably dumb marketing. While the opening of the game was something that stuck in many who play it’s memory; it stood out as an excellant way to preface the story, but the rest of the game seemed to stray away from the advertised guerilla combat and stick itself purely opn the line of “subpar Call of Duty clone”.
A couple more shocking moments here and there did little to stave off the weak gameplay and ultimately the game was too short and not enough people played the surprisingly solid multiplayer. Without it being free, I would struggle to recommend picking it up. But it is free! This weekend! So hurry up and add the game to your Steam library than forget about it for a few years!
